About Us

The DSASC covers the entire hyper-arid and arid desert landscape, compromising about 40% of the area of Israel. Its unique locations puts its researchers at the forefront of climate change understanding. The R&D strategic partners are the following: the Ministry of Sciences & Technology & 5 Regional Councils Our researchers work to resolve local challenges with global potential implications. Over 20 researchers fosters transdisciplinary innovation, covering a wide range of advanced research fields including: microbiology, geology, botany, hydrology, extreme weather events, sustainable agriculture, biological management of wastewater from aquaculture, health soil, extreme climate events e.g. floods analysis, relations between skin & light, hyper arid ecology, citizen sciences, “wisdom of the desert” and more.
