About Us

The Morris Kahn Marine Research Station was established in 2015 by Professor Dan Tchernov under the auspices of the Leon H. Charney School of Marine Sciences at the University of Haifa. Located in Kibbutz Sdot Yam, 44 kilometers south of Haifa near Caesarea, the station is a Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) facility focusing on the eastern Mediterranean basin. It provides open-access baseline data on marine ecology, top predators, sediments, water biogeochemistry, rocky bottoms, fish diseases, and coral reef monitoring.
