About Us

Omaiko is pioneering the next generation of microalgae farming systems with a novel biofilm-based farming platform. It dramatically improves yield, cost-efficiency and scalability and is relevant for any microalgae application. Our first product is a spirulina biofilm-based alternative protein ingredient for food manufactures. The market of alternative protein ingredients is valued at $ 22 Bn and growing at a CAGR of 12 %. The space is changing and growing fast, but food manufacturers have one big problem: protein ingredients cause bad textures and bitter flavors in final products. Our product has a dramatically improved flavor and color compared to standard spirulina and has unique functionality clearly differentiating it from standard protein ingredients such as whey, soy, and pea protein solving a major industry problem. Omaiko’s protein enables food manufacturers to incorporate protein into their products without compromising on texture and flavor. Omaiko was founded in 2022 in Kiryat Shmona, a vibrant Ag-tech and Food-tech region in the north of Israel. Our founder team of Vinzenz Bayro-Kaiser (CEO), Yehuda Folberg (CBO) bring together scientific knowledge and market experience to forge a synergistic founder team committed to transforming the future of nutrition and microalgae farming. Omaiko has produced an MVP, validated market interest, and secured strong partnerships including the Israel Innovation Authority, ICA in Israel and the EU funded EIT incubator. Now, Omaiko is moving towards production and growth while positioning itself at the forefront of agricultural and food innovation.
