About Us
The Volcani Institute (Agricultural Research Organization - ARO), founded in 1921 by agronomist Yitzhak Elazari Volcani as Israel's first agricultural experiment station, is the country's national center for agricultural research and development, affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Operating from its main campus in Rishon LeZion with additional centers at Neve Yaar and Gilat, it comprises approximately 180 research groups publishing around 300 scientific articles annually. Research spans plant and animal sciences, food technology, soil and water, and sustainable aquaculture.
